Heating Oil

Laurelhurst Oil takes pride in delivering the safest, most efficient and reliable heating fuel available. Our ultra-low sulphur home heating oil is derived from the latest in fuel science and oil heat technology to give you a clean heating source that now rivals natural gas.

ThermOil Plus is our premium, and most popular, petroleum heating oil. It contains additives, including the combustion catalyst Thermo-Boost, which disperses condensation, eliminates deposits, varnishes and micro-organisms. (bacteria and fungi), clean the fuel injection system (fuel lines, pump and firing assembly), lower the pour point (controls waxing and gelling during cold weather), stabilize fuel for longer storage, provide anti-rust protection, and reduce heating oil usage by 5% or more. It is the gold standard for petroleum heating oil. We also offer standard and mid-grade petroleum heating oil choices.

What is Bio-Heating Oil?

Bio-Heating Oil is Laurelhurst Oil’s unique brand of biofuel. It is a combination of biodiesel and petroleum heating oil. It is available in custom blends ranging from 20% to 99% biodiesel.

A Cleaner Way To Heat Your Home

Bio-Heating Oil is a clean, renewable energy source that reduces air pollution, burns cleaner, and extends the life of your furnace. It’s better for the environment, and it reduces dependence on foreign energy. Bio-Heating Oil is a non-hazardous material which is less toxic than salt, biodegrades as fast as glucose, is safe to handle and easy to store.

Lower Emissions

Have you saved your carbon ton today? If you are concerned with reducing your carbon footprint, Bio-Heating Oil is one of the most effective ways to get started. Bio-Heating Oil beats natural gas hands down when comparing air emissions in pounds per million BTU of fuel (see chart at right). Plus, bio crops absorb carbon dioxide as they grow.

Use Your Existing Furnace

At a 20-30 percent blend, no burner or tank modifications are necessary. All steel oil tanks are compatible with Bio-Heating Oil. Furnace and burner components are compatible with up to 30 percent blends.

Bio-Heating Oil Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which furnaces can run on Bio-Heating Oil?
A: Any furnace that is designed to operate on #2 petroleum heating oil.
Q: What is a Blend?
A: A Biodiesel Blend is a blend of biodiesel fuel, meeting ASTM D 6751 requirements, with petroleum-based diesel fuel, designated BXX, where XX represents the volume percentage of biodiesel fuel in the blend. To put it simply, blend is the term used to describe the amounts of Biodiesel and petroleum diesel that make up the fuel. For instance, B20 is 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel.
B = Biodiesel
20 = the amount of biodiesel in the mix.
Bio-Heating Oil is available in the following blends: B20, B30, B40, B50, B60, B70, B80, B90, and B99. The higher the number, the lower your carbon footprint will be. Air pollutants such as carbon dioxide, sulfur oxides, methane, and carbon monoxide are dramatically lower in Bio-Heating Oil than in natural gas. See the chart in the right column for details.
Q: What blend should I get? What blend do I need?
A: B20 and B30 will run in most furnaces without any special filters or modifications. With a few furnace modifications people can utilize higher ratios of bio-heating oil up to B99 (99% Biodiesel). Less furnace maintenance is required with higher blends, which saves you money.
